  • Second non-refundable deposit due by April 30th, $150 per person
  • Final balance due, paid in full by June 11, 2011

·       Performances and intimate music workshops will be conducted inside the yurt. Aizhan Tuleubayeva and the Trio Nazim will perform and teach using Qobiz, Sherter, and Dombra.

·        Dombra lessons will be led by Samal from Trio Nazim.

·        Kazakh craft workshops will once again be led by artist Assylgul Baidaralina

·        Kazakh dance performances and lessons: Karlygash Bukenova will be performing and teaching traditional dance to older children. Gulsaya Tuleubayeva will once again teach dance for the younger children.

·        Kazakh Traditional Tolghau Hour (listening to meditative music) inside the yurt, hosted by Daniyar with (NEW!) live Kazakh Music from Aizhan & Trio Nazim.

·        NEW! Brief course of Kazakh history, by Daniyar inside the yurt. For the first time Daniyar will walk you through the history of Kazakhstan from ancient times to modern days.

·        Talk on contemporary Kazakhstan by Daniyar.

·        NEW! Birds of prey demonstration.

New York City Aul Festival

Sunday, May 6, 2007, 1 - 4 p.m.

The Kazakh Aul of the U.S. held its first ever NYC festival for the Kazakh community in lower Manhattan on Sunday May 6, 2007, and featured the following performances and fun activities: 

  • Traditional Kazakh dance performances by Gulsaya Tuleubayeva and Gulasyl Tleugazy , plus students from Rhode Island
  • Kobyz and dombra performances
  • Kazakh storytelling and skits
  • Kazakh dance instruction
  • Crafts and games for children
  • Delicious Kazakh food

 

 

Nauryz Festival 2007

Celebration of the Kazakh New Year

        March 24, 2007

        Arlington, Massachusetts

  • Assylgul Dalabayeva came from Almaty and performed on the dombra, a traditional two-stringed instrument

  • Gulsaya Tuleubayeva  performed a traditional dance

  • Daniyar and Bakhtiyar Baidaralin performed the ancient nomadic Nauryz dance of the Light and Dark spirits

  • Two of Vera Kurmasheva’s Rhode Island dance students performed a Kazakh "ballet."
