| First and foremost, with the loving guidance of our Aul's Kazakh staff, there was so much to learn throughout the week. |
| There was beautiful dancing, both traditional and popular. |
| Dilara taught traditional dance throughout the week, pictured here with some of her Zhailau students. |
| There were beautiful dombra and kobiz performances during Zhailau opening ceremonies and other evenings by Samal, Aizhan, and Gulmira. |
| They also provided dombra lessons throughout the week. Students young and old took the lessons seriously. |
| Children and adults participated in several small-group traditional craft making workshops. |
| The week also included Kazakh language lessons by professional language instructor, Alma and assistant Aziz. |
| Archery was an exciting program for the school-aged children. |
| We were honored that our Kazakh friends cooked a delicious traditional Plov lunch for the entire Zhailau group one day. It was a cross-cultural group effort. |
No camp would be complete without traditional camp activities, and Aul family campers enjoyed familiar fun, too.
Our host site, the Geneva Point Center (GPC), has three private beaches on Lake Winnepesaukee.
Pictured here are beach games for the Aul children. |
| Campers had the option to partake in organized activities, or to just "hang out", usually at the lake |
The GPC provides a beautiful site for our annual camp. In addition to beaches, canoeing, and kayaking, there are also miles of beautiful nature hike trails.
During our week there, campers participated in GPC nature hikes, organized games, and even a scavenger hunt. |
| Best of all, Zhailau were the life-long friendships, reconnections and just plain fun, fun, fun. |
